Bahrain invites bids for 682-unit housing project

Bahrain's government has invited bids from qualified consultants and contractors for providing contract management and site supervision consultancy services and construction and maintenance of 682 residential apartment units on islands 10 and 11 at Madinat Salman (formerly Northern Town) off the northern coast of the kingdom.

The Ministry of Housing in seeking to appoint a consultant to provide contract management and site supervision for all the 682 units, while the construction and maintenance of housing units at Madinat Salman is being awarded in two packages.

The first package will see a total of 400 social apartment units being built on plots 24, 25, 27 and 28, of island 10 while the second package will see the construction of another 282 units on plot 2 of island 11. 

The project is being funded through the UAE grant provided by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) under the GCC Development Programme.

As per the tender notification, preferance will be given to consultants/contractors registered in the UAE and experienced in engineering services/apartment building works tendered under the UAE grant.

For the Bahraini contractors, the criterion is that they need to be categorised as Grade A with the Ministry of Housing and Grade AA in building construction projects with the Ministry of Works, stated the notifictaion.

The last date for submitting bids for the contract management and site supervision consultancy tender is June 27, while bids for the construction and maintenance contracts can be given by July 4, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
