Dubai Municipality, Union Coop to furnish 234 villas

DUBAI, April 12, 2018

Dubai Municipality said it has signed an agreement with Union Coop, the consumer co-operative of Dubai and manager of hypermarkets, to furnish 234 villas in the emirate, in line with its vision of building a happy and sustainable city and consolidating the concept of volunteering and charity among society members.

As per the deal, the Union Coop will be supporting the civic body with a Dh4.68 million ($1.27 million) funding for the Dubai Municipality Villas Project.

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition by Ahmed Al Falasi, the assistant director-general for corporate support sector at Dubai Municipality, and Union Coop CEO Khalid Humaid bin Diban Al Falasi.

The Dubai Municipality Villas Project agreement is aimed at supporting the beneficiaries of Dubai Municipality project through furnishing and decorating, as well as installing electronic devices for 234 villas in Al Quoz-2 and Oud Al Muteena-1 areas.

"The municipality is keen to activate and consolidate the principle of community responsibility through the implementation of service projects that promote this concept, serve the community, and achieve its happiness," remarked Al Falasi.

Through the MoU, the municipality aims to achieve mutual co-operation with the Union Coop in the community service field, he added.

The scope of work includes furnishing of 122 villas in Oud Al Muteena-1 area and 112 villas in Al Qouz-2 area for citizens at a total area of 1,200 sq ft per villa by applying all the green building and sustainability standards that Dubai Municipality is keen to implement in all its government projects in terms of external lighting, solar water heating and the use of eco-friendly building materials.-TradeArabia News Service
