Bahrain to start work on key housing project
MANAMA, February 15, 2018
Bahraini authorities are set to start work in September on the second phase of the Wadi Al Sail Housing Project, a 267-unit development which will benefit the affiliates of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), said a BNA report.
The first phase of the Wadi Al Sail project, which featured 774 units, was completed in 2011, while Phase Two units will be ready by the end of 2019, stated officials at the foundation stone-laying ceremony held recently in the presence of Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Dhiyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi.
The event was held under the patronage of the commander-in-chief of the BDF, Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
Addressing the gathering, Al Nuaimi underlined the BDF’s keenness on providing adequate and conformable housing for its affiliates in order to ensure them the requirements of decent living so that they feel satisfied, and perform their duty with utmost determination and devotion.
BDF usually provides housing units to its servicemen according to the authentic Bahraini traditions, he stated.
The BDF offers its affiliates two types of housing services. The first is temporary and is granted to the servicemen until they own a housing unit, reported BNA.
In this regard, 112 flats have been distributed in Riffa, three BDF officers’ residential buildings, with 54 units each, were opened in 2001, and 350 temporary housing units have also provided in Wadi Al-Sail region, it stated.
As to the second type, it is related to ownership units provided in projects carried out in cooperation with the Housing Ministrym, said the report.
The other major BDF developments which have been handed over to the beneficiaries include the second phase of Zayed City Housing project comprising 217 units and 98 land lots, in addition to 252 units in Hamad Town, it added.
