Kuwait inks $143m water tanks contract
KUWAIT, January 19, 2018
Kuwait government has signed agreements worth KD44 million ($143 million) for the construction of five water tanks in the Al Mutlaa area of the country as part of its efforts to boost water supply, reported Kuna citing a senior minister.
The project, which is aimed at increasing the water supply in the region by 275 gallons, will be completed within the next three years, said Minister of Water and Electricity Bkheet Al Rashidi.
The deal entails the construction of a quintet of underground water tanks, he stated.
A recent construction boom in Kuwait has given way to soaring water consumption, making the project all the more significant, he added.
