Work starts on major Bahrain school

Work has started on the second phase of Isa Town Elementary/Intermediate School for Boys at the Southern Governorate of Bahrain, which is being implemented as part of the Gulf Fund Programme.
Phase One of the project, comprising the academic building, the activities building and all other services, was earlier handed over, said the statement from the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
The Ministry of Education has transferred students to the new school building in Phase One, and evacuated the existing old buildings prior to demolishing them, it stated.
Works affairs undersecretary of the ministry Ahmed Al Khayyat revealed that the ministry last year completed Phase One of the project, which included a four-storey school building that contains 35 classrooms, with a capacity to accommodate 1,050 students.
The school also includes multi-purpose laboratories for science, computer, home science and the library, in addition to offices for the teaching and administrative faculty, sports hall, other service facilities such as toilets and store rooms.
Sustainability and green buildings factors have also been implemented in the project, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
