Alpin named commissioning authority for Expo 2020 Dubai
ABU DHABI, April 3, 2017
Alpin has been appointed as the design phase commissioning authority for the 2020 World Expo, which will take place in Dubai.
The commissioning process is a quality-focused process for enhancing the delivery of a project and as the commissioning authority, Alpin will lead the process throughout the development cycle, said a statement.
Expo 2020 Dubai will bring together more than 180 nations and 25 million visitors, across a six-month period. It will be an opportunity to explore and experience the different perspectives of the overall theme of 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future', as well as the three sub-themes: Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability.
Alpin's primary objective is to work with the organisers to integrate these three sub-themes into the urban design, construction, operation and legacy while also ensuring commissionability of the assets and the efficient use of resources.
The design will be inspired by the Middle Eastern environment, reflecting the cultural and architectural history of the UAE. This prestigious development will also become a reference in sustainability for future World Expo sites by meeting the guidelines of the US Green Building Council requirements and local standards, the company said.
Following the World Expo, the physical site of the Expo 2020 Dubai will transform into a mixed-use community comprising:
* Convention and exhibition centre (CoEx) expanded
* Specialist education centre
* Techno parks for research and development
* Commercial offices
* Retail mall
* Residential developments
* Public realm
* Permanent resident population
Alpin employs high quality, professional consultants who, over the years, have worked on a number of large projects such as Msheireb Heart of Doha, the Abu Dhabi Airport's Midfield Terminal and the Doha Metro.
Alpin understands the importance of safety in the delivery and operation of the Expo 2020 Dubai site and has taken steps to ensure that these standards are met, it said.
"Expo 2020 Dubai aims to excel in technological innovation and showcase Smart City initiatives that provide both an interactive and educational experience for visitors and participants -- a project that Alpin is proud to be a part of," it added. - TradeArabia News Service
