GCC starts structural work at Qatar tower project

DOHA, December 29, 2016

Gulf Contracting Company (GCC) has started the structural concrete works for the first phase of the Al Majed Tower, a 50-storey building located at the West Bay Area in Lusail City, Qatar, said a report.

Al Majed Group has signed up GCC and Arab Engineering Bureau for the project, reported The Peninsula.

One of the foremost construction and infrastructure contractors in Qatar, GCC held a ceremony to mark the commencement of the structural concrete works on the new tower.

The ceremony coincided with the commencement of the first phase of tower’s 14,000 cu m raft foundation concrete pour, which was expected to take 43 hours of continuous pouring, stated the report.

Group chairman Ahmed Al Majed said it was a proud moment to be part of Qatar Vision 2030 by developing a well-equipped commercial complex in future business hub Lusail City.

Ibrahim Al Jaidah, Group CEO for Arab Engineering Bureau, said: "This is a special moment to build a new landmark for Al Majed and we are quite keen and happy to work again and again with GCC, one of the leading and well reputed Contractors in the State of Qatar."

"We certainly look forward for this unique masterpiece to be completed," he stated.

Yousuf Al Darwish, the chairman of GCC, lauding the initial pouring of concrete for the Al Majed Real Estate Tower, said: "Over the past four decades we have compiled an impressive portfolio of projects in Qatar and in doing so have established a solid reputation for delivering excellence."

"The Al Majed Tower will without doubt compliment that portfolio," he added.
