ACC wins top ranking for tall building construction

ABU DHABI, November 14, 2016

Arabian Construction Company (ACC), a leading player in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region, said it has been ranked second in the list of world’s top contractors for the tallest buildings by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

The company which boasts a portfolio that includes some of the Middle East's most iconic landmarks, won the top global rankings in the Top Contractors’ category in CTBUH's book ‘100 of the World’s Tallest Buildings’, which represents a snapshot of the tallest buildings complete or under construction at the time of publication.

ACC’s position underscores its world-class expertise in constructing supertall towers, having built a significant six out of the top 100 tallest buildings in the world. Of this, five are icons of the Dubai and Abu Dhabi skylines, said the company in a statement.

This line-up includes Dubai Marina’s Princess Tower at 413 m and Elite Residence (381 m), Abu Dhabi World Trade Centre’s Burj Mohammed Bin Rashid (381 m), Jumeirah Lake Towers’ Almas Tower (360 m) and Sheikh Zayed Road’s Rose Rotana (333 m).

Maher Merehbi, the chief executive of ACC, said: "Achieving the ranking of second place in this list confirms our company’s world-class capabilities, as the construction of skyscrapers is amongst the most complex and challenging of building processes."

"We are proud to have shaped the skylines of many cities all across the Middle East and India and we look forward to the creation of even more icons in the future," he added.

The company, which began operating in 1967, has an extensive track record of complex and sophisticated construction and infrastructure projects, ranging from oil and gas facilities, power generation and desalination plants to luxury hotels, mixed-use developments, hospitals and skyscrapers.

These include the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi, the Al Bidda Tower on the Doha Corniche, the historic Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan and one of the the tallest buildings in Beirut, Platinum Tower, said the statement from ACC.

Construction is also under way on four of the tallest buildings in India and four hotel towers as part of the Jabal Omar development in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
