Williams ... commissioning vital to making this vision a reality.

AESG wins top honours for Kuwait skyscraper project

KUWAIT, June 12, 2016

AESG, a leading UAE-based consultancy firm, said it has received a prestigious award for its role in the development of Al Hamra Tower, the tallest building in Kuwait.

This was mainly in recognition of the significant positive impact that AESG’s commissioning services have played in the success of the project.

One of the tallest buildings in the world, Al Hamra Tower was designed to be best in class with the goal of achieving a high-performance, low-maintenance and low operating cost facility achieved through sustainable and energy-efficient design features.

The award was presented by Sheikh Faisal Ahmed Al Abdullah Al Sabah, the chairman of Hamra Tower, to Gary Williams, the director of commissioning at AESG.

A board member of the Emirates Green Building Council, the company and its team sits on advisory boards of a number of regional universities as well as participate in a number of government stakeholder groups.

The commissioning services ensured that systems critical to the operation of the $550-million property such as HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning), plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, building management systems and interior systems are being operated in accordance with the building requirements and at peak efficiency.

“Commissioning has been vital to making this vision a reality. The ambitious scale of the project called for multiple contractors, so proper management was key to ensuring a strict adherence to industry best practice and keeping the mammoth project on track," remarked Williams.

"Our services have also helped the building owner uncover commissioning snags on the project and address them before they escalated into significant issues during the life of the building," he added.

On the successful completion of Al Hamra Tower, Saeed Al Abbar, the director at AESG, said: "We feel that public and private sector developers in the region are truly leading by example in developing world-class buildings and should be commended for their efforts in energy conservation and sustainability, of which commissioning proves to be a vital tool."

"The tower is truly an icon and we take pride in the fact that our region is leading the world with such innovative and sustainable large-scale developments," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
