Bahrain road revamp work nearing completion

Bahrain Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning said work was progressing well on road revamp project in Hidd area of the kingdom with 80 per cent of the job completed.
The BD354,537 ($932,673) project for revamping of roads in Blocks 107 and 108 in the area was awarded to Eastern Asphalt, the ministry said in its statement.
All roads in Block 108 have been revamped, while work in Block 108 is underway and planned for completion in the third quarter of this year, stated Sayyed Bader Alawi, the roads projects and maintenance director at the ministry.
The project involves development of infrastructure by improving the water distribution network and lighting system prior to carrying out the roads revamp works.
It includes reconstruction of the roads and alleyways and paving them with brick, implementing a stormwater drainage network, providing traffic safety requirements, signage and installing speed humps besides implementation of ground channels for present and future use, he added.
Also the ministry recently completed the construction of an alternative road for trucks along Post Avenue in Diraz.
The alternative road starts from Avenue 36; extending to the new traffic signal at the Intersection of Budaiya Highway and Janabiya Highway, said the ministry in its statement.
The road has been temporarily levelled with dirt and made into an alternative road for trucks to prevent them from entering the residential area of Diraz, Block 540, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
