Jordan to float tender for desert highway revamp

AMMAN, March 1, 2016

Jordan is set to float a tender for the reconstruction of a desert highway project over the next two weeks, said a report.

The $170-million project involves the rebuilding of the entire 220-km stretch of road which runs from the Queen Alia International Airport intersection to Maan Governorate, reported MenaFN citing the Ministry of Public Works.

Once completed, the highway will link the capital to the southern region, specifically the Aqaba port, it stated.

The highway revamp is being financed by the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), it added.
