Oman to award major EPC contracts for plastic project

State-owned Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) is set to award four major engineering, procurement and contracting (EPC) deals on Thursday (December 17) for its plastic manufacturing unit in Sohar region of the sultanate, said a report.
The EPC contracts for the Liwa Plastics Industries Complex are for building a polymers plant in Sohar industrial area, a natural gas liquids (NGL) extraction plant in Fahud, a steam cracker plant and a 300-km-long pipeline from Fahud to Sohar, reported the Times Of Oman.
However, as many as 30 EPC contracts will be signed on Thursday, which include related projects that are part of the venture.
The project commissioning is expected in 2019, stated the report.
