New safety vow for building sites in Bahrain

Bahrain could adopt new safety measures at construction sites in the wake of a deadly crane collapse at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, that killed 107 people and injured 238 others earlier this month. New proposals require contractors to obtain licences for individual pieces of equipment from the project consultant before being operated on site, as opposed to simply being supervised, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
