Corniche reflects Al Marjan’s vision of a contemporary waterfront village.

Al Marjan in RAK corniche project success

DUBAI, September 9, 2015

Al Marjan Island (AMI) Company, a leading developer in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, has completed the first phase of the Al Marjan Island Corniche project which extends up to Al Hamra Village, creating a 3-km-long pedestrian and cycling track along the waterfront.

The project links Al Marjan Island with Al Hamra Village through an additional line parallel to Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Road. It represents a quality value-addition to AMI and Al Hamra Village in particular and to Ras Al Khaimah's tourism and real estate development in general.

The Corniche reflects Al Marjan Island’s vision of a contemporary waterfront village with innovative modern designs that complement the coastal environment and encourage outdoor living and activities.

It is located on the south-western edge of the island, and connects the entrance in the south with the proposed Food & Beverage Boardwalk to the North.

“This picturesque Corniche is designed to promote family activities and healthy living in a waterside location. It was thoughtfully designed with ascalable facilities and public spaces that encourage both outdoor living and recreation activities with family and friends. It also includes unique public art exhibits celebrating the rich history of Ras Al Khaimah and Northern Emirates,” said architect Abdullah Rashed Al Abdooli, the managing director of AMI Company.

"The Corniche is one of the hottest projects on AMI. It will follow highest standards, latest designs and innovative architectural styles, developing a unique destination that will further strengthen the position of RAK as a global tourism hub for coming decades," he stated.

"This project has been created based on the findings of a comprehensive study done by AMI to integrate the real estate projects in RAK Emirate and provide a venue for residents to engage in different types of sports activities," he added.

The Corniche – Phase 1 comprises an 8m-wide waterfront walkway lit with energy saving LED lights, enriched by landscaping, lighting and shaded seating areas, a dedicated 3-m wide running track, a dedicated 2.4-m cycling track, two kiosks, a children’s playground, a public car park for 265 cars and bike hire facility.

"With its existing attractions, the island is drawing a growing number of visitors and tourists. With this project in hand, AMI will continue to raise the importance of business and tourism sector of Ras Al Khaimah," said Al Abdooli.

"There is great potential on this island for business and tourism, and we are very upbeat about the island’s tourism potential in the coming period," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
