Haya Water plans $3.2bn spend on new projects

MUSCAT, September 8, 2015

Oman’s Haya Water plans to invest about RO1.25 billion ($3.23 billion) in the next few years on building future sewage projects in the sultanate’s capital Muscat, a report said.

The company is eyeing building sewage pipelines, trunk lines and sewage treatment plants in six catchment areas, added the Times of Oman report.

A planned world-class wastewater system will also connect 80 per cent of the properties in Muscat by 2020, according to the report.

“In the Bausher area, we have more than RO304 million ($789.7 million) upcoming projects,” Khalid Al Lawatia, deputy general manager — projects, Haya Water, was quoted as saying in the report.

Projects in Seeb and Al Amerat catchment areas would cost RO200 million ($519.5 million) and RO154 million ($400 million), respectively, he added.
