Oman’s Centralized Utilities Company (CUC) will launch a prequalification exercise for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for its power and a desalination plants in Duqm, a report said.

The captive 300 MW combined cycle power plant integrated with a 1,600-cu-m-per-hour seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant will meet the needs of Oman Oil Company’s projects in Duqm, Abdullah Al Hashmi, project director, CUC was quoted as saying in the Oman Observer report.

“The project, targeted to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2018, is expected to be project financed on a non- or limited-recourse basis,” Al Hashmi said.
