HOK announces key Mideast appointment

DUBAI, April 28, 2015

HOK, a global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm, has appointed Mark Streetz as its new managing principal in Dubai, UAE.

Streetz, an architect with 38 years of experience in design, planning, architecture and project management, had earlier held leadership positions at several high-profile architecture and engineering firms in the US and UAE.

He is a holder of a Bachelor of Science (Architecture) degree from the University of Illinois.

On the appointment, Streetz said: "We are committed to ensuring that HOK’s Dubai office continues to thrive and to work with the region’s best clients. I'm thrilled to collaborate with such wonderful clients and talented teams."

Daniel Hajjar, who helped establish HOK’s office in Dubai in 2000, has moved to a new role as managing principal in the firm’s London (UK) office, said a statement from the company.

He continues to provide support for HOK’s clients and operations in Dubai and across the Middle East.

"Mark is a proven leader in the design profession who is the ideal person to continue building our highly successful practice in the Middle East," remarked Hajjar.

HOK’s current and recent projects in the Middle East include the Hamad International Airport Passenger Terminal Complex and the Marina Mall (Doha); The Change Initiative sustainable retail prototype store in Dubai and the Rosewood Abu Dhabi hotel.
 
It is also working on two of the largest high-rises currently under construction in the GCC region - the 74-storey Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) headquarters in the UAE capital and the 76-storey Capital Market Authority Tower in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

HOK’s Dubai and London offices are collaborating with Arup on the design of the Dubai Expo 2020 host venue.

It was the lead designer for the team that developed the masterplan for Dubai Expo 2020, which is expected to draw more than 25 million visitors to the UAE.-TradeArabia News Service
