DOHA, April 23, 2015
Qatar University (QU) and Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) have partnered to augment co-ordination and communication for the construction and operation of the Red Line North Rail Station at the university, a report said.
The agreement, in line with Qatar Rail Development Project (QRDP), will provide systems for co-operation, co-ordination, communication and exchange of information between QU and Qatar Rail, and any third party, added the Gulf Times report.
Both institutions will co-ordinate work content, programme and sequencing, as well as the identification and resolution of issues in the construction activities, according to the report.
A joint working group will also be formed to manage the processes and procedures and co-ordinate with other working groups.
“We are pleased to co-operate with Qatar Rail in the spirit of co-operation between the academic and industrial sectors, and the commitment of both to serve the wider community through various services,” QU president Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad was quoted as saying in the report.
“This agreement will enhance our efforts to support national development activities as well as the aspirations of the society as the country prepares itself for hosting Fifa World Cup 2022 and other top international events.”
Qatar Rail CEO Saad Ahmed Al Muhannadi, who signed the agreement with Al Misnad, said: “Providing convenient methods of transportation for students on campus comes as part of Qatar Rail’s vision that aims to equip the country’s main university grounds and public hubs with the latest techniques and technologies for a smooth, quick and green model of transport.”
“Close communication with our partners and contractors is very important to Qatar Rail in order to complete our projects on time and without complications. We are very glad to be co-operating with Qatar University,” he added.
