MANAMA, March 1, 2015

The work is progressing well on the revamp of Sheikh Ahmed bin Salman Avenue which extends from Riffa Avenue in the North to Sheikh Isa Avenue in the South at Block 905 in Riffa.

The work involves re-construction and revamping of Sheikh Ahmed bin Salman Avenue at a length of 835m with one lane at each direction, re-constructing the infrastructure by removing the old paving layers, levelling works, organizing intersections along the internal roads to increase safety levels and implementing a storm water drainage network, said a statement from the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning.

The project, which was awarded to National Excavations, also includes constructing parking spaces on the sides of the road, lighting, implementing ground channels for present and future use, paving works and constructing pedestrian pavements, in addition to providing traffic safety requirements in collaboration with the concerned entities.

Raed Al Salah, the roads projects and maintenance director at the ministry, said the road revamp work in various areas across the Kingdom was being done in co-ordination with Municipal Council representatives and was aimed at providing high quality services to citizens and residents.

The work on the project, which began in September last year, is expected to be completed in the middle of the year.-TradeArabia News Service
