Kuwait .... in move to delineate lands for construction projects.

Kuwait municipality seals quarrying contract

KUWAIT, December 30, 2014

Kuwait Municipality has signed a KD1.3-million ($4.4 million) contract with a foreign company for delineating quarry sites where sand can be extracted for construction purposes, said a report.

The project is in line with the municipality’s efforts to delineate lands and determine relevant uses, according to the state news agency Kuna.

It will be carried out in four phases: feasibility studies, field studies and soil survey as per technical, geotechnical and environmental criteria, and quarry delineation and final reports, stated the report citing a senior official.

The one-year contract comes at a time when development projects are being increasingly carried out in Kuwait within the framework of the Gulf country’s third structural plan, stated the municipality's director-general Ahmad Al Subaih.

The plan features new cities and residential areas nationwide, together with development projects involving roads, bridges and facilities to be implemented by both the public and private sectors, he added.
