L&T lowest bidder for Oman's airport project

Leading Indian construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has emerged as the lowest bidder for the development of a passenger terminal at Oman's Duqm airport, said a report.
The company had submitted a bid of RO36.27 million ($94 million) for the work on terminal building, which is designed to handle 500,000 passengers per annum, reported the Times of Oman.
The scope of work will include a cargo building, firefighting building, air traffic complex, ground support equipment workshop and other support facility buildings, it stated.
Galfar Engineering & Contracting with a bid of RO40.61 million was the second lowest, while Mohammed Abdel Mohsen Al Kharafi & Sons of Abu Dhabi at RO43.75 million was third, the report stated.
When operational, the Duqm airport will serve as a new gateway into a region with significant economic, industrial and commercial potential, it added.
