Bahrain ministry vows quality homes

Manama, May 22, 2011

Bahrain's Housing Ministry is exerting all efforts to ensure that all its current projects are built to international standards and specifications so that citizens are assured of quality housing.

The constant attention and clear efforts of the leadership to provide various services for Bahrainis is evident in accelerating the process to deliver adequate and suitable housing to families to achieve social and economic stability.

Despite encountering several challenges, the ministry has tendered the second phase of the Malkiya Housing Project in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander.

The project is one of a series issued under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad and constant supervision and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

HRH the Crown Prince laid the foundation of its first phase to build 232 housing units at an estimated cost of BD9 million.

The second phase is expected to cost BD6 million and the whole project scheduled to be completed by end of next year.

One of the challenges the ministry faced that delayed work was in connecting the project to the main sewerage network.

To overcome this the ministry has decided to construct a plant to treat wastewater and reuse it to irrigate green spaces in the area and its cost has been included in the project's budget.

The plant will be handed over to the Ministry of Works after the project is completed.

A walkway is also planned for the use of citizens in the area
