LVQ phase I to be ready by January

Doha, July 17, 2010

Gulf Warehousing Company, Qatar’s leading integrated logistics service provider, said its ambitious Logistics Village Qatar (LVQ) project is progressing well with the first phase on track to start operations by January next year.

About 70,300 sq m of “large warehouses”, which allow optimum storage with height reaching 13.5m, will be developed in the first phase, said a statement from Gulf Warehousing Company.

The warehouse area will range between 4,000sqm and 33,000sqm, the statement added.

On completion, Logistics Village Qatar, which will span an area of one million sq m, will cater to the small and medium sized businesses, the company said in a statement.

LVQ also provides readily-available staff accommodation to house some 1,552 senior and junior staff, ensuring a “quality living experience” closer to their workplaces, it added.

The 12,870 sq m of “multi purpose warehouses” are being master planned to facilitate efficiency of operations and future expansion with options to expand from 615 sq m to 3,600 sq m.

“This is a major initiative which reinforces GWC’s commitment to our customers,”  said Gulf Warehousing Company CEO Ranjeev Menon.

“The operational frontlines are backed up by comprehensive infrastructure including waste water, water supply and high voltage networks, fire fighting system and fibre optic for internet connectivity, data centre, security systems and access controlled gates,” he explained.

The purpose-built LVQ is strategically located in the industrial area and will be “welcoming” its clients to start operations by January 2011, it said.

“Logistics Village Qatar (LVQ) indicates Qatar’s push to remain globally competitive by offering investors value through business synergies, economies of scale and strong supporting infrastructure,” he noted.

“We are excited about this project and convinced that this will change the dimensions of how logistics infrastructure is perceived in Qatar,” he said. 'We are extremely pleased with the progress of the construction and are all set to go-live early next year,' he added.-TradeArabia News Service
