Amman, June 23, 2009
Abdali Investment and Development, an Amman-based privately-owned developer of mixed-use urban properties, has selected 16 out of 55 projects to reach the final stage of the Abdali Innovation Award (AIA).
The AIA is one of the major activities of the Ru’yatuk CSR programme, which aims to lead the corporate citizenship programmes in the property development sector in Jordan through sponsoring innovation and creativity solutions to architectural and engineering challenges.
The various projects were presented under the following categories: smart architecture, green architecture, urban development, open theme and architecture and culture.
The 55 projects were developed by students for the Jordan University for Science and Technology and the Jordan University.
Following the walkthrough and evaluation process performed by the AIA jury recently, Jamal Itani, CEO of Abdali, said: “We were impressed by the efforts and creativity exhibited by the participating students through their projects.”
“We believe that by addressing the Engineers and Builders of the future through the Abdali Innovation Award, we are assisting in paving the way for a new ambitious and open-minded generation of passionate architects and engineers who are eager to induce change positively within their field,” he added.
“We are genuinely happy with the enthusiastic reception the Award yielded amongst the students, and sincerely hope it continues to do so in the future. Our faith in our Jordanian youth is what encouraged us to develop the Award, ultimately providing them with the right assistance that will help them adapt to the highly competitive markets we have today,” Itani concluded.
The award ceremony will take place on July 20 in the auditorium of Al-Hussein Cultural Centre, where the awards will be distributed for each category in addition to a special jury award. – TradeArabia News Service
