Growth strategies for the real estate sector amid the global economic downturn will be discussed at a major conference in Bahrain next month.

Government officials, representatives of central, regional and international banks, law firms, auditors, property companies and analysts will gather for the two-day event, starting on November 18, said a report in our sister publication, the Gulf Daily News.

Hundreds of delegates are expected to attend the Gulf Real Estate Fundamentals conference at the Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, Residence and Spa.

Organised by the Survey and Land Registration Bureau and local company Roshcomm, the annual event aims to provide deep insights into real estate development and management life cycles.

Twenty-five world-class speakers will share their knowledge and expertise with delegates during presentations, roundtable discussions and one-to-one meetings.

The event will also focus on the application of international best practices tailored to the Middle East market and other topics such as making eco-buildings a success, assessing the state of capital markets and funding options for real estate projects.

The conference chairman will be award-winning real estate, investment and finance guru Stephen Lee from the City University's Faculty of Cass Business School, London.

He has published more than 50 papers in refereed journals and presented numerous conference papers in Europe, the US and Asia on the application of Modern Portfolio Theory to real estate investment.
