Emirati women's investments top $5bn at ADX

ABU DHABI, August 24, 2017

The total number of Emirati women investing at Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) reached 219,000 by the end H1 2017, with 3 billion shares worth Dh18.8 billion ($5.1 billion).

Additionally, Emirati female investors’ total trading value (buy and sell) during the same period reached Dh2.7 billion which is a19.4 per cent increase compared with Dh2.26 billion during the first half of 2016, reported Wam, the Emirates official news agency.

"ADX management has worked intensively during the past few years to empower Emirati women in the Exchange, investors or employees alike. Our strategy in attracting investments quite diverse, bearing in mind that many portfolios managed by Emirati women investors have gained good profits during the past two years," Rashed Al Blooshi, chief executive of ADX, said.

Al Blooshi added that the high percentage of Emirati women's workforce in UAE is attributed to the empowerment policy adopted by the wise leadership of the UAE, referring to many corporations and institutions managed efficiently by Emirati women in UAE.

It is noteworthy that ADX main strategic goals are to increase market cap and product range, attract and activate a wider range of investors in the framework of enhancing the competitive environment for doing business and attracting investments into the capital in alignment with Abu Dhabi Plan and Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.
