Foreigners buy $680m shares on DFM

DUBAI, December 10, 2016

Foreign investors purchased shares worth Dh2.5 billion ($680 million) on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) over the week, while the value of stocks they sold amounted to Dh2.4 billion ($653 million), said a report.

The net foreign investment during the period reached Dh148.5 million, stated the Emirates state news agency WAM.

The value of shares bought by foreigner investors comprised 43.9 per cent of the total value of stocks traded during the last five days, while the value of sold shares represented 41.3 per cent of stocks traded during the period, stated the report citing the DFM data.

The value of stocks bought by institutional investors soared to Dh1.8 billion comprising 31.5 per cent of the total value of stocks traded, said the report.

The value of stocks sold by institutional investors during the period reached Dh1.5 billion which constitutes 26 per cent of the total value of stocks traded during the five-day trading period, it stated.

Net institutional investment on the market stood at Dh318.9 million during the period, as aggregate buy, the report added.
