LONDON, December 18, 2015

Ovum, a leading global technology research and advisory firm, said David Bannister, a respected commentator in the financial technology industry, will join its financial services practice in January to develop and grow its research across the wholesale payments and corporate banking areas.

Kieran Hines, practice leader of Ovum's Financial Services Technology group, said: “David has a well-deserved reputation as an industry thought leader, having spent over two decades commenting and driving debate around the rapidly changing role of technology within financial institutions.

“The team and I are looking forward to working with him, and I have no doubt that our clients will be as excited as I am about his decision to join us.”

Before moving to Ovum, Bannister was the editor of banking technology, a leading fintech publications in the industry.

He has been covering technology issues for 36 years and specialising in financial technology for the past 24.

“2016 is going to be a very important year across the payments industry as a combination of regulatory requirements and technological innovations accelerate the rate of fundamental change, and I’m very much looking forward to the opportunity presented by joining Ovum to focus on these issues and examine them in depth,” said Hines.

Bannister is a well-known panellist and speaker on the conference circuit and has taken part in many international events, including Sibos, the International Payments Summit, EBAday and the ISITC Vendor Forum, said a statement.
