ME investor relations society appoints new chairman

MANAMA, December 15, 2015

The Middle East Investor Relations Society (MEIRS) has appointed Alex MacDonald-Vitale as its new chairman for the region.

He had headed the regional IR at HSBC Middle East for the past five years, said a statement.

MacDonald-Vitale replaces Oliver Schutzmann, who has been chairman since last year. Schutzmann will remain active with MEIRS as board member.

Clemence Piot, general manager, MEIRS, said: “The role of investor relations (IR) has become increasingly important in driving economic growth for the region and we are pleased to welcome Alex as the new Chairman of the Middle East Investor Relations Society.

"The appointment comes at a crucial time, as we work to help further develop the IR profession and evolution of the region’s capital markets and its economy.”

MEIRS, an independent and non-profit organisation, aims to enhance the reputation of the Middle East’s capital markets through upholding international best practice across the investor relations profession.

Working alongside and supporting regional stock exchanges and regulators, MEIRS seeks to improve the efficiency of Middle East capital markets and is the only organization providing accreditation for the IR profession in the region. - TradeArabia News Service
