ABIC to promote investments in UAE

ABU DHABI, October 19, 2015

The 17th Arab Investors and Businessmen Conference (ABIC) will feature a range of discussions on investment opportunities in the UAE across diverse sectors when it takes place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, next month.

The opportunities, in line with the UAE Vision 2021, will be promoted at the event taking place on November 16 and 17 at Jumeirah Etihad Towers Hotel - Abu Dhabi through several investment activities, with an aim of boosting inflow of foreign direct investment, and spurring the Global Competitiveness Index and Ease of Doing Business Index.

The Organising Committee has given priority to Arab investors to enhance economic exchange between regional countries, a statement said.

The Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, who are strong supporters of ABIC, will showcase a series of pioneering and innovation-driven projects.

The event is organised jointly by the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for the Arab Countries (GUCCIAAC), the Arab League, Arab Investment and Credit Export Guarantee, , in cooperation with Strategic Marketing and Exhibitions.

The UAE Vision 2021 goals include increasing the net inflow of Foreign Direct Investment from 2.66 per cent to 5 per cent in 2021, raising the Gross National Income (GNI) per Capita from Rank 6 (2012) to among top 10 countries in the world, increasing Global Competitiveness Index from Rank 12 (2014-2015 report) to among top 10 countries, in addition to many others goals.

“In collaboration with our partners, we have arranged significant investment opportunities during the 17th ABIC that are in line with the objectives of UAE Vision 2021, which aimed to build a competitive knowledge-based economy. We are focused on making the event fruitful and beneficial for participants and Arab countries,” said Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy and chairman of the 17th Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference.

“The UAE Vision indicators have set ambitious targets, which puts a responsibility on everyone to achieve them, and thus contribute to the goal of an advanced UAE economy. We found in the 17th ABIC an exceptional platform to showcase these investment opportunities, knowing that it will attract large delegations from decision makers and capital owners over two days,” said Abdullah Al Saleh Undersecretary, UAE Ministry of Economy, president of the 17th Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference Higher Committee.

“The 17th ABIC in Abu Dhabi will witness important agreements, and open many communication channels.
