The Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA) has elected Yahya Nooruddin as the chairman of its board of directors, with Yasser Al Baharna being elected the vice-chairman for the 2015-2016 term.

This follows the annual general assembly of the association, which also saw the year end results and financials for last year getting board approval, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The five members of the board who have also been elected are: Younis Al Sayed, Sameer Al Wazzan, Nader Al Mandeel, Ebrahim Al Rayes and Jameel Bahou.

Also, Stephen Wagstaff has been appointed the board secretary and Mohammed Radhi as financial treasurer.

BIA co-ordinates with insurance companies as well as the Central Bank of Bahrain, other associations and specialised institutions in developing the insurance sector.

The association also organises activities such as workshops and seminars, aimed at increasing awareness of insurance, and its role in building a firm Bahraini society.

The BIA also contributes by studies, plans and recommendations for the progress of the industry. - TradeArabia News Service
