22 Bahraini firms in Forbes Mideast list

Twenty-two Bahrain-based companies have been named in Forbes Middle East's ranking of the Top 500 Companies in the Arab World 2014.

The highest ranked Bahraini company is Ahli United Bank, placed 31st, and the lowest ranked is Bahrain Cinema Company at 466th place, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The others are, Arab Banking Corporation at 55, Alba 78, Al Baraka Bank 81, Batelco 97, BBK 114, National Bank of Bahrain 133, Investcorp Bank 200, Al Salam Bank 229, Bahrain Islamic Bank 295, BMMI 336, Arab Insurance Group 337, Bahrain Commercial Facilities Company 350, Gulf Hotels Group 351, United Gulf Bank 358, Gulf Finance House 374, Nass Corporation 396, Seef Properties 400, United Gulf Investment Corporation 416, Securities & Investment Company 422 and Bahrain Duty Free Shop Complex 440.

Eleven countries are represented in the list, and with financial performance as of December last year as the reference point, their combined revenues stand at $383.67 billion and net profits at $71.68 billion.

GCC companies dominate the line-up, with the top 10 including four entries from Saudi Arabia, three from the UAE, two from Qatar and one from Kuwait.

Topping the list is Sabic with $50 billion in revenues and an asset base of $90.4 billion. – TradeArabia News Service
