CBB issues F1 10th anniversary coin, medal

The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has issued a coin and silver medal to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the launch of Formula 1 in the kingdom, which will be held this year from April 4 to 6.
The silver medal and coin in a special denomination of 100 fils, has the image of the VIP Sakheer Tower on the obverse of the coin, while its margin is carved with ‘Kingdom of Bahrain - Bahrain Grand Prix” along with the date “2004-2014.”
The reverse of the coin shows its denomination of 100 fils.
It is minted in the same weight and size of the existing coin 100 fils which weighs 6 gms and its diameter 24 mm while its thickness is 1.9 mm, said a statement.
The CBB has minted 31,000 pieces for this special occasion which has been wrapped in an attractive package, it said.
The scheduled distribution of the coin is to be during the celebration the Bahrain International Circuit’s (BIC) Formula One event, “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East.”
The commemorative medal is made from gold plated silver, weighing 31 gms, with a diameter of 36 mm, with the silver purity being 99.9 per cent. The medals thickness is 2 mm and a quantity of 1,500 medals have been produced.
The kingdom’s crest is shown on the obverse of the medal, with a background of the checkered flag along with the name of the ‘Kingdom of Bahrain’ in both English and Arabic.
The reverse of the medal shows the BIC’s Tower with “Bahrain International Circuit” and “10th Anniversary 2004-2014” engraved on the margin.
The medal will be presented in a luxury box and will cost BD35/- ($92). It can purchased from the Currency Issue Directorate at the CBB from March 30. - TradeArabia News Service
