CBB announces e-visa service

Manama, February 1, 2009

The Central bank of Bahrain (CBB) said the electronic visa application system for the banking and insurance sectors has been launched and is operational according to the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports, and Residence.

This is in line with the directorate's efforts to simplify and speed the visa application process for the financial sector workforce.

The CBB has called upon all banks, exchanges and insurance firms to register their relevant data via the Bahrain e-visa website  www.evisa.gov.bh, this month in preparation for their future visa requirements / applications.

The new process will enable visa applications to be submitted electronically and thus reduce both paperwork and delays in financial sector business interests.

All visa applicants will be able to print their approved visas anywhere in the world. The website will enable visas to be issued within 72 hours after submission.

It will also be possible for Visa collection and fee payment to be made directly online, saving time and effort for employers, said a top official.

The CBB governor Rasheed Al Maraj praised the efforts being made by the Ministry of the Interiors towards improving the existing services and introducing new ones with the objective of simplifying procedures in general and those concerning the banking and insurance sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain more specifically.

All employers’ information and data will be registered as part of a secure database at the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence.-TradeArabia News Service
