Samsung launches new compact camcorders

Dubai, August 3, 2009

Samsung Electronics, the global leader in consumer electronics, has launched two new ergonomically designed, compact digital camcorders.

The HMX-R10 and SMX-C10 feature a unique form factor that allows users to hold the camcorder more comfortably. Thanks to the lens being angled at 25 degrees, these camcorders can be gripped in a more relaxed manner and users can record their subjects with ease, further reducing the stress on one’s wrist.

Users can also benefit from a 12x intelli- zoom and swiveling 2.7-inch touch screen LCD. Unlike traditional camcorders, the relaxed grip also removes the LCD screen from the user's line of sight, enabling them to always keep an eye on their subject while recording.

The super-slim aluminum HMX-R10 is the world’s smallest and lightest camcorder that includes not only the ability to record full-HD video but also captures high-quality, nine mega-pixel digital still photos, said a statement.

“The biggest differentiation of these camcorders is lens design,” said Ram Modak, general manager of AV division at Samsung Gulf Electronics.

“Thanks to the lens being angled at 25 degrees, the user can grip the camcorder in a more relaxed manner and record their subjects with ease, making long shooting periods much easier.”

“If you’ve ever tried using an ordinary camcorder, you must have felt a strain in your wrist with time. ‘Is there any way to minimise the pain?’ was the starting point of the R10 and C10. The 25 degree slope allows for a natural grip and helps to reduce wrist bend, helping to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome. R10 and C10 are smart human body engineered products!”

At 229 grams the HMX-R10 weighs less than a cup of coffee and can even fit inside one. Using advanced H.264 compression technology, its full HD resolution displays pictures and video more clearly than Standard Definition quality and maintains a 16:9 aspect ration that minimises distortion on a Full HD TV screen.

In addition to the ability to record full-HD video, consumers can also capture high-quality, 12 mega-pixel digital still photos.

Similar to the full-HD HMX-R10, the new SMX-C10 can record in the exact format and resolution required by YouTube, resulting in faster uploads to share video with friends and family online.

The SMX-C10 supports still photos up to a resolution of 800 x 600 and also offers substantial battery life, providing more than two hours and forty minutes of record time on a single charge.

Both camcorders further enhance the video recording experience with several unique features, including time-lapse recording, animated thumbnails and a versatile charging system. The time-lapse recording function is especially useful for condensing extremely long events into a short video -- it allows users to program the camcorder to record at a pre-set interval of one image every one, three, five, 10, 15 or 30 seconds.

With Samsung’s play-edit-sharing program - intelli-studio --users can connect the camcorders to any computer via USB and edit and play their video without having to install supporting software. – TradeArabia News Service
