Alfa Laval has begun the process of fully integrating Desmet, aiming to strengthen its position in the oils, fats and biofuel industries by combining the companies’ complementary process engineering capabilities.
Alfa Laval acquired Desmet in 2022, along with the
operational units and brands of RoseDowns and Stolz. Desmet has since operated
as a separate entity.
The integration, expected to be completed by July 2027, will
position Desmet as a product and process technology brand within Alfa Laval.
The combined offering will span the technology value chain
from seed to end product, bringing Desmet’s expertise in upstream extraction
and processing together with Alfa Laval’s technologies in separation, heat
transfer and downstream processing.
“By bringing our capabilities together, we can offer
customers more integrated solutions, accelerate innovation and create even more
value through the process. At the same time, we are preserving the specialist
know-how and close customer relationships that Desmet is known for in the
market today,” says Sammy Hulpiau, President of the Food & Pharma Division.
Alfa Laval said the broader portfolio will provide customers
with integrated engineered solutions from a single partner, potentially
simplifying project execution and reducing complexity.
The integration will be implemented in phases to maintain
continuity for customers, partners and ongoing projects.
Desmet will become part of Alfa Laval’s Business Unit
Process Engineering Solutions within the Food & Pharma Division, supported
by the company’s global sales, service and supply network spanning more than
150 countries. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
