Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that work has begun on the Hamad General Hospital, being developed at a total value of QR1.2 billion ($325 million), in co-operation with the Ministry of Public Health.
The move is aimed at implementing comprehensive development works for the hospital's facilities, in order to enhance their readiness and operational efficiency, raise safety levels, and improve the healthcare environment, ensuring the provision of various medical services according to the highest standards, said a statement from Ashghal.
The project is scheduled to be completed and delivered in the third quarter of 2029, it stated.
Speaking on the occasion, Eng. Ahmed Al Emadi, Acting Head of the Health Projects Section at the Building Projects Department, at Ashghal, said it is being implemented in three main packages, which contribute to raising the efficiency of facilities and systems and enhancing operational safety levels, in accordance with the highest technical and engineering standards.
Hamad Al Khalifa, the Head of Healthcare Development at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), said that the project is part of the Corporation's ongoing efforts to modernise its facilities and infrastructure to keep pace with the development of healthcare services and the growing needs of patients and visitors.
Eng. Maryam Al Marzouqi, the Project Engineer, said Ashghal has begun the implementation of the project, which has a total value of about QR 1.179 billion, and is scheduled to be completed and delivered during the third quarter of 2029.
