Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has announced that it has signed a reservation agreement with German industrial major Siemens Energy for the supply of gas and steam turbines for the Al Zawra Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power project coming up in the northern emirate of Ajman.

The Al Zawra CCGT power project will have a planned generation capacity of 2.6 gigawatts (GW), with Siemens Energy responsible under the reservation agreement for supplying the gas turbines and steam turbines required for the power generation facility.

The agreement was signed during a visit by Eng. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity, to Siemens Energy’s facility in Berlin, as part of efforts to strengthen strategic cooperation and partnerships in the UAE’s energy sector. The UAE delegation was accompanied by Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

The turbine supply forms a key component of the planned combined-cycle power project, which is intended to support the development of advanced and sustainable power generation infrastructure in the UAE.

The agreement represents an important step toward advancing the Al Zawra project and strengthening the partnership between EtihadWE and Siemens Energy. The development is expected to contribute to meeting future electricity demand and enhancing the reliability and efficiency of the UAE’s power generation infrastructure.

The project is also aligned with the UAE’s broader objectives to develop a modern, efficient and sustainable energy sector capable of supporting economic growth and rising electricity requirements.
