Oman's Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) has announced that its Sur Industrial City has attracted investments worth about RO56 million ($145 million) during the first half of the year.
Covering a total area of more than 60,000 sqm, these newly secured projects span a diverse range of key sectors, including tourism, energy, gas, telecommunications, and food production.
Announcing this, Eng. Nasser bin Hamoud Al Mabsali, Director General of Sur Industrial City, said the total cumulative investment in the city rose to RO2.3 billion by the end of the first half of 2026.
The city currently employs 1,843 workers, of which 1,076 are Omani nationals, thus giving a major boost to the government's Omanisation plans.
"Madayn is preparing to implement a lineup of key future projects in Sur Industrial City. These developments include the maintenance of Wadi Crossing No. 6, extending irrigation water to the Green Belt area in the city, and the infrastructure development for the ship docking area dedicated to shipbuilding and maintenance industry," stated Al Mabsali.
He pointed out that the first half of 2026 saw the completion of detailed designs for the ship docking facility, along with the general and detailed design for the city’s master plan. Trial operations also began at the 'Sur-1' solar power plant. "Aligning with Oman Vision 2040, the city remains focused on building strong infrastructure, attracting investments, and supporting economic diversification," stated Al Mabsali.
As part of Madayn’s efforts to strengthen institutional performance and support sustainable growth, the city recently launched the Institutional Excellence Competition.
