MUSCAT, February 14, 2022
Oman Air has received endorsement of its Records Management Manual during an official signing by National Records and Archives Chairman Dr Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Dhawyani and Oman Air Chief Executive Officer Abdulaziz Al Raisi.
The manual was signed at Oman Air’s headquarters and is the culmination of a year-long undertaking by Oman Air’s Records Management department.
Dr Al-Dhawyani said: “Records management is an important aspect of any organization due to its contribution to organizing information and retrieving it effectively. Oman Air was attentive to this by establishing a dedicated records management department and the recruitment of a specialist to oversee its functions.”
He added: “The adoption of a classification system and retention schedules of records aims to enable these units and departments to circulate records, limit their duration, retrieve them easily and facilitate daily and ongoing workflow transactions.
“In addition, the system facilitates identification of all important files and records for transfer to the national memory with regard to what has been accomplished in the field of aviation and its business operations. By adopting this system, the number of institutions that have successfully completed the process has reached 89.”
Abdulaziz Al Raisi said: “The exceptional work being carried out by the National Records and Archives Authority reflects a remarkable commitment to guide organizations such as ours toward implementing effective records management processes.
“The insights and expertise they shared with Oman Air proved instrumental in our Records Management unit’s successful completion of the manual. Maintaining a national archive of essential documents is a fundamental pillar of efficient governance and one that serves both present and future generations. Oman Air is extremely proud to enhance Oman’s national memory with records from the field of aviation.” – TradeArabia News Service
