Abu Dhabi Airports launches new 'Year of Zayed' initiative
ABU DHABI, September 2, 2018
In collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent, Abu Dhabi Airports organised a trip for 31 orphans on August 31 to Sir Bani Yas Island as part of its ‘Flight of the Children of Zayed’ initiative.
The initiative falls within the framework of Abu Dhabi Airports’ ongoing corporate social responsibility and Year of Zayed program. Abu Dhabi Airports is committed to organising various social initiatives and sponsoring charities in line with its vision of becoming the world’s leading airports group.
As a part of the initiative, Abu Dhabi Airports collaborated with various authorities including the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship, Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, Abu Dhabi Department of Culture & Tourism, the Tourism Development & Investment Company who sponsored the recreational activities and accommodation on the island, and Abu Dhabi Aviation who provided air transportation.
The initiative included a safari on the island and a variety of water sports. The children also planted trees bearing their names and received souvenirs from the island to remind them about their experience.
Abu Dhabi Airports commended the staff across all the organisations involved that contributed, coordinated, and implemented the ‘Flight of the Children of Zayed’ initiative.
Earlier this year, Abu Dhabi Airports launched several initiatives in celebration of Year of Zayed including the adoption of the “Year of Zayed” Immigration stamp at Abu Dhabi International Airport, in collaboration with Airport Immigration; the Meir Al Khair campaign, whereby employees of Abu Dhabi Airports collectively donated funds to purchase needed households goods and distribute it to less fortunate families within the UAE in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan; and mounting the “Year of Zayed” logo on one of the Capital’s airport’ Air Traffic Control Tower. - TradeArabia News Service
