St. Regis Abu Dhabi names new general manager

ABU DHABI, December 19, 2015

The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, a five-star hotel being operated by the Starwood Hotels & Resorts in the heart of UAE capital, has appointed Moustafa Sakr as its new general manager.

Sakr joined the hotel in 2011 as one of the founding members of the pre-opening team in the position of deputy general manager and has played an integral role in developing the hotel, said a statement from Starwood Hotels.

Stewart Selbie, Starwood Hotels area manager for Abu Dhabi, said: "We are confident that under Moustafa’s leadership the hotel will continue to grow both in terms of business and reputation. He has been responsible for many of the initiatives in the hotel and has forged many strong relationships that have resulted in significant business for the property."

With 17 years hospitality experience and 15 years in the Middle East, Sakr has an extensive knowledge of the market and industry as well as a proven ability to deliver record results.

Prior to joining St. Regis, hew worked with a variety of hospitality groups including Fairmont, Shangri-La, The Westin and Accor across Australia, Egypt and the UAE.

On his new role, Sakr said his approach as general manager will have three key focus areas - guests, staff and product.

"I like to meet as many guests as I can, to be visible to them and to understand how they experience the hotel. For staff, I am a huge believer in development; when I see talent, it’s vital I provide an environment that grows that talent and gives the staff a reason to stay and a reason to love what they do," he explained.

"My third focus is the product, my role is not just about running a luxury hotel, it’s so much about the attention to detail and understanding how the detail makes or breaks the experience," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
