Jazeera slims down website

Dubai, February 4, 2008

Jazeera Airways today announced the launch of jazeeraairways.com Lite, a ‘slimmed down’ version of the airline’s website, in response to a slow down of internet connectivity.

The airline has worked to overcome the problem of slow internet speeds felt by millions across the Middle East by optimising the website for extremely fast loads.

Telecom operators and internet providers in the region had previously estimated that the slow internet speeds - currently causing major slowdowns for businesses and individuals throughout the region - will continue for at least another 10 to 15 days, meaning widespread disruption as users battle to continue their everyday work.

In addition to jazeeraairways.com Lite, the airline has ‘slimmed down’ airfares from Kuwait and Dubai to Beirut and Bahrain, with one way tickets from KD1.

Marwan Boodai, Jazeera Airways’ chairman and CEO said: “More than 60 per cent of our customers book online, so we had to react quickly and continue to deliver freedom of online booking - even with the unusually slow internet speeds.

“The Lite version of jazeeraairways.com, which is only 16 kilobytes in size, loads in less than 4 seconds on very slow connections and with super low fares from just 1 KD, we’re giving our customers even more freedom to travel. Just as soon as connectivity speeds are back to normal, jazeeraairways.com, with all the fat, will be back online.” -TradeArabia News Service
