Dairy milk scare
, February 20, 2013
Dairy cows are seen at a farm in Dobanovci, near Belgrade on February 20. Authorities in Serbia ordered an unspecified number of dairies to withdraw their milk from shops pending tests for a toxin released by fungi often found in grains, the agriculture ministry said. The ministry said in a statement that initial tests in Serbia had suggested the possible presence of aflatoxin, a potentially carcinogenic product of the Aspergillus fungi species, "above prescribed levels".
