Four new Arab countries join ‘Arab ICT Union’

DUBAI, March 11, 2021

Four new Arab countries joined the Arab ICT Union (AICTU), headquartered in Bahrain. 
 
They are Tunisia, Morocco, Palestine and Yemen, alongside the remaining five members, which are Egypt, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon and Bahrain, to bring the total number of members to nine countries
 
Ahmed Al Hujairy, Secretary-General of the Arab ICT Union (AICTU) said on this occasion: “ICT sector has a tremendous ability to contribute to all fields of development, and make people's lives easier and access services rapidly, and we welcome the participation of our brothers from Arabic countries to AICTU to benefiting from the advanced qualitative experiences of the members.”
 
"We are all confident that our cooperation together will produce tangible successes at the level of the Arab world as a whole, and bring about the largest possible integration between Arab countries in the field of manufacturing and producing ICT, and benefiting from Advanced Arab experiences, and enhancing the share of Arab technology companies in the telecommunications and information market in the Arab countries,” he added.
 
Al Hujairy stressed the union’s role in developing Arab societies economically, documenting bilateral and collective relations between national and Arab companies working in the ICT sector, encouraging cooperation between national and active Arab companies in the information industries, working to develop such cooperation, contribute to removing obstacles, and working towards the career advancement of its members.
 
Al Hujairy concluded: “Arab ICT Union, which was launched by the initiative of the Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) about two years ago in Bahrain, continues its efforts to attract all Arab countries to its membership, in a way that leads to boosting the contribution of Arab technology companies in the ICT industry worldwide, especially since several Arab countries are ranked among the highest in the field of technology consumption without being a true producer of it.”-- Tradearabia News Service
