Food prices a concern says Bahrain cbank

Kuwait, October 31, 2010

Bahrain's central bank is concerned about an increase in global food prices although overall inflation is not a problem, its governor Rasheed Al-Maraj said on Sunday.

'I do not think inflation is a problem for us. The increase in food prices globally is a concern as it transpires into higher prices on the local market,' Al-Maraj told Reuters on the sidelines of a financial conference in Kuwait.

He also said fluctuations in global currencies would not  influence short-term policy decisions.- Reuters
