Galfar wins $157m Duqm fisheries port contract
MUSCAT, August 29, 2016
Oman's Galfar Engineering and Construction has been awarded a contract for the construction of a fisheries port and related marine and road works in Duqm by the Special Economic Zone Authority, Duqm (Sezad).
The contract is worth RO60.69 million ($157 million), said a company filing at the Muscat Securities Market.
The duration of the contract is 30 months, in addition to six months for mobilisation. "We expect reasonable income from this project," Dr Hans Erlings, chief executive officer of the company, said in the filing.
Sezad floated the tender this January, inviting local and international contractors. Marine work as part of the contract includes dredging, reclamation, breakwaters, quay walls and concrete floating pontoons with berthing facilities, navigation aids, complete with ancillary works, said a Muscat Daily report.
