40,000 visitors and competitors at Gamergy next month

More than 40,000 visitors and competitors will take part in the three-day Gamergy festival from January 30 to February 1, 2025 at Alburouj New Heliopolis in Cairo, Egypt.

Gamergy, one of the world’s largest esports, gaming and entertainment events, will be sponsored and hosted by Imkan Misr. Brought on by MenaTech Entertainment (a GGTech’s company), the arrival of this festival results from a strategic collaboration with ievents, Influence Group, and eProjects LLC.

The festival is a testament to Mena’s transformation into a regional hub for esports amidst the accelerating growth both globally and regionally. The global gaming and esports industry, valued at approximately $131 billion in 2017, is projected to reach $221 billion by the end of 2024, highlighting its rapid growth.

70 million gamers in Mena
With around 3 billion gamers worldwide—about half of the Earth's population—this sector is increasingly significant. In the Middle East and North Africa, the industry was valued at $7.2 billion in 2023, with approximately 70 million gamers. Notably, Egypt accounts for 58% of this market, boasting around 40 million gamers, including 7 million esports competitors, underscoring the region's vital role in the global gaming and esports landscape.

The press conference was attended by Ahmed Abdel Khaleq, General Manager of Tourism and Sports’ Events at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Sherif Abdel Baki, President of the Egyptian Esports Federation, along with representatives from the organising companies and sponsors. Details were revealed about Gamergy Egypt, the first festival of its kind in the region, which is sponsored by the global company Red Bull, with official radio partner NRJ, media partners CairoScene, El Fasla, Cairo 24, and Yalla Kora, entertainment partner 2oolameme, and official tickets partner TicketsMarche

Mario Perez Guerreira, CEO of Mena Entertainment, said: “We are excited to launch the first edition of Gamergy in Mena, which acts as an inspiring platform that paves the way for a new future of immersive entertainment, digital sportainment, and technological innovation. We are confident that this event will showcase Egypt as a major player in the global esports industry.”

Eng Sherif Elbassiouny, CEO of eProjects LLC, said: “The Egyptian market has growing talents that can compete on international levels, enabling the country not only to become a regional esports hub but also an international one. By hosting an international event such as Gamergy Egypt, we are committed to nurturing our talented individuals and providing them with opportunities to compete globally.
