Saudi Arabia Railways has signed agreements with leading international rail companies - Alstom as well as US groups Progress Rail and Greenbrier - for the manufacture and supply of locomotives and freight cars in support of the kingdom's Phosphate 3 expansion project.
Consortiums led by French group Alstom, German tech major Siemens, Japan's Hitachi Rail and Chinese group CRRC have emerged as the qualified bidders for the Riyadh Metro’s Line 7 project. A 65-km network, it will boast 19 stations, of which 14 will be built underground.
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has awarded contracts worth SAR5.5 billion ($1.47 billion) to German industrial giant Siemens and French rolling stock manufacturer Alstom for 94 new train sets for its Riyadh Metro network. Deliveries are set to begin in 2028, with the trains to be supplied in phases.
Webuild, a global leader in the design and construction sector, has announced that its consortium - comprising Indian construction conglomerate L&T, Saudi Arabia's Nesma and French rail transport giant Alstom - has secured the contract for the extension of Riyadh Metro’s Red Line network.
