World Green Economy Summit in Dubai sets stage for COP29

The World Green Economy Summit (WGES) 2024 that was held recently in Dubai contributed to paving the way for COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan in November, by facilitating dialogue and co-operation among world countries in the areas of sustainability and the green economy, a report said.
The event, which was held from October 2-3 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) saw a wide participation of current and former heads of state, ministers, government representatives, officials, experts and specialists from around the world, Emirates News Agency, WAM, said.
Organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DEWA and World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), the summit saw the participation of a large number of current and former heads of state, ministers, government representatives, officials, experts and specialists from around the world.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Chairman of the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO), said that this year’s summit was an opportunity to showcase the pioneering efforts of Dubai and the UAE in balancing economic growth and environmental protection, and expanding investments in renewable and clean energy solutions.
The summit built upon the outcomes of COP28, which was hosted by the UAE in Dubai last year, he said.
